RENOWNED PIANIST ANA MARIA OTAMENDI JOINS SCHOOL OF MUSIC FACULTY
BATON ROUGE, La. – Internationally acclaimed collaborative pianist and vocal coach Ana María Otamendi will join the faculty at the LSU School of Music next fall, the LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts announced Wednesday.
Otamendi, as Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano, will teach undergraduate and graduate students, work with faculty and guest artists as part of their research and creative activities, and seek out talent to bring into the School of Music’s renowned collaborative piano and keyboard programs.
“We are excited that Ana Maria Otamendi will be joining the outstanding faculty of the School of Music,” said Dr. Todd Queen, Dean of the LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts. “Her unique combination of outstanding artistry, excellent teaching, and strong administrative skills made her a perfect choice for this important position.”
Prior to her appointment at LSU, Otamendi was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Houston’s Moores Opera Center. She received her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin and Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from the University of Michigan. Otamendi held a two-year tenure as a Studio Artist at the prestigious Houston Grand Opera and performed with the Merola Opera Program of the San Francisco Opera.
HANA BELOGLAVEC NAMED ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TROMBONE
The LSU School of Music is pleased to announce Hana Beloglavec, previously the Visiting Assistant Professor of Trombone, has now joined our faculty in a permanent role as Assistant Professor of Trombone!
Hana is an accomplished trombonist, having competed successfully in international competitions and played in numerous award winning and distinguished ensembles, such as The Handsome Dan’s Trombone Quartet and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She holds degrees from Northwestern (DMA), Yale (MM) and Western Michigan (BM).
